My first two posts focused on David. Now it’s time to discuss two of my favorite Black women to ever play the game: Da’Vonne and Bayleigh. I was ECSTATIC when I saw Da’Vonne was coming back into the house and thrilled when it was revealed she would be in the house with Bayleigh.
In case you’re new to Big Brother, just know the show/game is just like the real world: full of anti-Black racism and white privilege. Therefore, no one will look out for, protect and care for a Black woman in the game…like another Black woman in the game. As far as I can tell, Da’Vonne and Bayleigh AKA BayDay have one of the two closest relationships in the house, the other being Janelle and Kaysar.
If you’ve been keeping up, you know that BayDay are part of the Slick 6 alliance which includes Enzo, Tyler, Cody and Dani. BayDay got pulled into this alliance to keep them from aligning with Janelle and Kaysar, however, this plan partially backfired because Bayleigh and Janelle have developed a friendship and I just heard Janelle telling Kaysar he should consider working with BayDay when she gets evicted. Obviously, for this reason and of course racism, BayDay are at the bottom of the Slick 6 alliance.
Here’s the thing: Slick 6 was intended to be a fake alliance to accomplish a specific goal, but last night Tyler told Cody and Dani he actually thinks the alliance could work if BayDay could trust them. Even though Slick 6 isn’t great for BayDay, I think they can use it to get farther in the game as long as they can make the other four think they trust them…which they shouldn’t given Cody talked about Da’Vonne needing to go in this same conversation. If Dani is speaking, she’s talking shit about Da’Vonne or Janelle. Also, if she calls Da’Vonne “this one” one more time…
While we’re on Dani, let’s just discuss briefly how disgusting it is that she revels in hating women and is likely a racist. She won’t stop talking about BayDay being paranoid and refuses to acknowledge they have every reason to be because Black women are usually the first people voted out of the house. She keeps saying she has to constantly coddle them and it’s “exhausting.” Bayleigh and Da’Vonne are the strongest women in that house, stop with the bullshit and lies, Dani. You’re not coddling them, you’re trying to manage them for your game. Also, stop saying “Girl” when you talk to Bayleigh. Matter of fact, to any white woman reading this: don’t start throwing “Girl” into the conversation when you’re talking to a Black woman/women. You will never be one of us. Take that energy and use it to dismantle white supremacy instead. Because if you’re not doing that, you are most definitely NOT my “Girl.”
Bayleigh is concerned about the fact that if Janelle gets evicted on Thursday, she’ll be the third woman to leave the house and normally, I’d agree with her. But Dani and Nicole are fucking up BayDay’s game and that’s why they should be their targets. Dani is constantly in Cody’s and Nicole’s ears bashing Da’Vonne. And Nicole still likely has hard feelings because Bayleigh implied she uses men to get through the game…which is the truth. (What is white women’s issue with being told the truth by a Black woman? Seriously, what is it? Someone write a think piece on that.) Also, Dani and Nicole are friends outside the game which is a threat to BayDay.
In terms of positioning, I think Bayleigh is in a better one than Da’Vonne. Bayleigh seems to have a somewhat close relationship with Tyler because they were on the same season and their significant others have squashed whatever beef they had. I don’t think Tyler would ever nominate Bayleigh for eviction because he doesn’t want to deal with the backlash from that. Dani has said fewer negative things about Bayleigh to Cody than Da’Vonne (colorism is likely involved here), so that should keep Bay off of Cody’s radar. I think Bay is playing a really good social game: she seems to get along with most people in the house and I don’t hear a lot of chatter about her on the live feeds. I’m intentionally not talking about what I think would happen if she ever saw the five letter b-word. Can’t risk speaking that into existence.
Unfortunately, I don’t think Da’Vonne’s social game is as good and that could land her in trouble. She doesn’t trust anyone in the Slick 6 but Bay and I don’t blame her. She and Enzo were on the same season, but I don’t think he would be a vote for her if she needed it. Day can’t fake the funk in the Slick 6 meetings and you know how upset white people get when Black people aren’t happy to see them. As I said, Dani seems to have convinced Cody that Day needs to go and if that ends up happening, Dani will blame it on Day having “lied to her three times” and not racism. Girl, this is Big Brother, all y’all lyin’. Funny, I mean white supremacist, that it’s only an issue when the Black woman does it.
Day does seem to have formed a relationship with Kevin, possibly because he’s another person of color in the house (he’s Black and Japanese), which is “good” because he’ll be a number for her if she needs it, but mostly bad because he has zero power in the game. Not sure who else Day has cultivated a relationship with outside of Bay and Kevin.
Sidenote: so apparently Day said she finds David attractive and now people are shipping the two of them. Look. David ain’t ready for that woman! He’s 30-years-old and barely knows his ass from a hole in the wall. Day is someone’s mother. She raising a whole child. She doesn’t need to raise a grown man too.
Finally, from watching the feeds last night, it seems like BayDay wants to avoid winning HOH competitions for the time being, which I think is a bad idea. One of them needs to win not only to ensure their safety, but to show their “alliance” they can carry their weight. Bay mentioned something to the effect of looking at who’s left when trying to decide if she will throw the next competition. Day mentioned throwing the next HOH to Kaysar, which if it can be done, is a brilliant idea: it keeps blood off their hands and Kaysar will likely nominate either Cody and Tyler for the block or try to backdoor one of them, which BayDay couldn’t do themselves until close to the end of the game, the blowback would be too huge, and by then, it would probably be too late.
No matter what happens, I’m rocking with #BayDay for eternity and I hope you are too.
