I have to get something off my chest and I don’t know a better place for it than this blog.

The above article details a 50-year-old man with a seemingly violent past getting sentenced to three years in prison and seven years of probation for raping a 13-year-old girl and I am sickened.

If this doesn’t show you how little our society values girls and women, I don’t know what will. This “man” is literally what you were warned about as a child: he jumped out of the figurative bushes, put a bag over a girl’s head, took her to a house and raped her. And then gets three years to serve and seven years of probation?!!! He should have been sentenced to ten years to serve at a MINIMUM. Furthermore, since when are mandatory minimums this flexible?! They never were when I was defending criminal defendants. I am simultaneously OUTRAGED and full of defeat.
