More like “Extremely Bothered”

You know the concept of being “unbothered”? Yeah, I’m the exact opposite of that: I am often bothered by seemingly unimportant things over the course of any given day. I’ve chosen to accept that because it’s who I am. I grew tired of beating myself up for being bothered by things or trying to listen to those who say, “Don’t let them have that power over you,” which is such bullshit anyway.

I think the concept of being “unbothered” can be harmful because it suggests there’s something wrong with having an emotional reaction to something. There isn’t. If something affects you, it affects you. Trying to act like you’re not affected is worse for you because it’s repressive. And no good ever comes of that.
