This Racial Reckoning

This doesn’t happen so much anymore, but I can’t tell you how many times I’ve written a letter that was read by white people and had them be surprised at how well-written it was. When I submitted my resignation letter to the job I left to go to law school, one of the white women who read it asked me if someone helped me write it. I had already graduated from Emory University with an English degree at the time. What’s coming up for me as we go through this racial reckoning are all of the “small” incidents of racism I’ve experienced that I haven’t thought about in years. Is anyone else experiencing this??
