I can’t relate to a lot of this article because I’m naturally extroverted and being funny, entertaining and not standing for bullshit is just who I am, but what I will say is I’ve *often* felt people expected me to entertain them and have noticed how often non-Black people have told me, “Sheena, you’re so funny!” Having Black people in positions where their job is to entertain is something American society is comfortable with. Most wealthy Black Americans are entertainers. There’s a reason for that. Give this article a read if you have some free time today.
